In a period where the resources sector was struggling to meet demand for engineers, local candidates were scarce and highly paid.  We identified a market arbitrage in the US, where infrastructure build was at an historic low post GFC, and highly experienced candidates were facing significant job insecurity. We launched an international search and identified over 30 potential candidates, mostly in the US, but also in the UK and Asia.  We travelled to interview these candidates and were able to recruit a number of Project Controllers and Civil Engineers who brought deep and relevant experience for less than the salaries on offer locally
